Helicopter landing site at Copernicus Ltd. in Gdańsk

Copernicus Ltd. in Gdańsk is one of the leading medical centres in Poland, which has a modern helicopter landing pad. The investment in the helicopter pads enables the rapid transport of patients requiring urgent medical attention, especially in cases of injuries or serious illnesses that require immediate intervention. This is particularly important in the context of emergency medical services, where time is of the essence and helicopters enable quick access to the hospital from different regions.

The landing site we designed at Copernicus Ltd. in Gdańsk is used by the Polish Medical Air Rescue, which operates rescue flights throughout the country. The hospital is part of the healthcare system in the region, which, thanks to such infrastructure, is able to provide patients with access to the most modern treatment methods in the shortest possible time.

Thanks to this landing site, the hospital can effectively respond to sudden crisis situations and cooperate with other medical units, shortening the transport time to the hospital and increasing the chances of survival of patients in life-threatening conditions.

The rescue helicopter landing site at Copernicus Ltd. was opened in 2018 and was implemented as part of a larger project that also included the construction of the Centrum Urazowe dla Dzieci (CUD). Thanks to the new helicopter pad, the time it takes to transport patients to the hospital has been significantly shortened, eliminating previous problems such as helicopters landing in remote locations and long ambulance transfer times.

The landing site is located on the roof of a 22-meter tower, between the hospital buildings. The landing pad measures 21 x 21 meters and is intended for rescue helicopters. The design is adapted to landings in difficult conditions, with appropriate infrastructure, including navigation lighting enabling night landings.

The total investment cost amounted to over PLN 9.5 million, of which PLN 6 million was spent on the construction of the landing strip.

This is a significant convenience, especially in the context of increased patient traffic, as thousands of people, including children with serious injuries, come to the hospital's emergency department every year.
